XI Category Report: January - February 2017

2016 was not only a monumental year for the NRA as a whole, but an exceptional year for recruiting.  This remarkable year for the XI category was comprised of 1,340 active Instructor Recruiters who signed up 23,459 NRA members!  After finishing the year strong, it’s important to set new goals for 2017 and consider new strategies for success.   

One Instructor Recruiter who made a major impact in 2016 was Ryan Felton of Tallahassee Gun Permit, a branch of Felton Training Group Inc.  Ryan signed up 649 members in 2016, blowing away his other single-year personal bests; 477 in 2015 and 372 in 2014.  Ryan stresses the importance of NRA membership in all of his classes and also generates a high number of online enlistments.  He has a great section on his website that lists the major benefits of membership, then drives the point home with his comment, “If you own a gun, you should be in the NRA… It’s as simple as that!”  In 2016, 332 members signed up via Ryan’s web link!  If you need to set up a web link for yourself or you would like some advice on how to best utilize yours, shoot me an email at [email protected]

Moving forward, it’s important to remember that every member counts.  Consider giving discounts on your class to those who renew or join through you on the spot.  You should also consider paying for Associate Membership to all those who pre-register for your course, then offer them the option to upgrade to a full year in person.  Many of these students would be willing to upgrade for an extra $20, and anyone who pre-registers is much more likely to show up for your course!

Discounts are an excellent way to sell a student on renewing/joining through you. With the positive momentum the NRA is experiencing, be sure to set your goals high and work towards your best recruiting in 2017!
