It takes incredible dedication to NRA and its mission to be a successful Recruiter. Winning "Recruiter of the Year" honors can mark the pinnacle of recruiting success. To reward that dedication and commitment, selected Recruiters are invited to the NRA's September Board of Directors meeting in the Washington DC area for a weekend of activities, mingle with Board Members and NRA officers and, most importantly, receive recognition for their outstanding achievement.
October is right around the corner, which means it's time for "Sign up a Spouse" month! Imagine how many additional NRA members we would have if every member signed up his or her spouse. Signing up spouses is a great way to increase your recruiting numbers without doubling your workload.
Hunting season presents Recruiters with many recruiting prospects. Identifying opportunities and pursuing them is crucial to membership recruitment in the fall and winter seasons.
614 devoted NRA Club Recruiters have recruited over 20,300 members so far in 2018. Clubs have increased their commitment all summer by signing up a higher percentage of club members and seeking out events for NRA membership drives. Strategies that may work well for some clubs may not apply to others, so it is important to find the most effective method for your club to recruit consistently. To simplify the process, many clubs associate the annual renewal of their club’s memberships with NRA membership renewal.
A common goal we stress to all Recruiters is ‘Strive for 25’ and sign up at least 25 members per year. In 2018, 55 Instructor Recruiters have already hit the 25 member mark and 15 have surpassed 100.
As we get closer to midterm elections, the hysteria around gun control will only increase. This is a crucial time to bring in more members to the NRA and not the time to rest on our successes from the beginning of the year. Stand strong and sign up new members to fight back. It is easy to lose focus on memberships because we won the elections in 2016; however, we must not become complacent. Andy Grove—one of the founders and past CEO’s of Intel—once said, “Success breeds complacency. Complacency breeds failure.” This quote is great motivation for us right now. Continue to restore the Second Amendment, build on each victory and do not settle for past victories.
NRA President Oliver North challenged all members to bring in just one more member, increasing NRA members to 12 million members. We know Recruiters are capable of much more. In fact, as stores and ranges, many of you are capable of one new member a day!
It’s hard to believe summer is almost over! Central Show Recruiters brought in over 2,600 memberships this summer- accounting for over 10,300 memberships this year so far!
Where has the year gone!? With three quarters of the calendar year behind us, the Northeast Region is maintaining an impressive pace. So far this year you all have signed up 12,235 members — just barely trailing last year’s total by 14%! I want to commend you all for unwavering dedication to our program and working so hard to match last year’s numbers.
The Southeast continues to see an increase in memberships compared to 2017. Currently we have added or renewed over 15,000 members and counting! Please stay vigilant when signing up members. So far this year, we have over 170 applications returned from processing, 80 of them from our recent NRA Weekend with Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's.
The Western Region has done a fantastic job this year. We’re seeing steady support coming from members in our region, which is crucial in this political climate. So far you all have signed up a grand total of 12,848 members—only 3% behind the year to date total at this time in 2017. Keep it up!
The NRA Recruiting program provides a great opportunity for NRA members to strengthen the NRA by increasing membership and earn extra money at the same time!
