Instructor Category Report: November - December 2019

Instructor Recruiters had another strong year in 2019, with 750 Recruiters signing up over 11,500 members! The XI Recruiter category also continues to be the fastest growing group of Recruiters. To all the new instructors who are passionate about firearms, proper training and growing Second Amendment support, I’d like to share a simple but powerful quote from an unknown source – “In recruiting, there are no good or bad experiences – just learning experiences!”

While there are many new Recruiters enthusiastic and eager to make a difference, it can be difficult to find a long-time Recruiter who has maintained their passion to sign up NRA members. Mike DeLaurenzo of Malvern, NY continues to make a big difference year in and year out. Mike has been a Recruiter since 1994, signing up 2,273 members in total, including 55 this year.  Even more impressive, 2,163 of those members were new to the NRA, while only 110 were renewals.

Mike is able to convert his students into new NRA members by discussing the mission of the NRA and how vital it is for gun owners to join. He sets up an NRA display in his classroom and makes sure everyone knows the benefits of joining. His passion and success over the years has truly made a positive impact on the NRA and his methods have proved to be worthy of emulation. Take the time to reflect upon your current situation and think about which recruiting methods might work best for you. This holiday season, remember to tell students how NRA memberships can also be the perfect gift!
