614 devoted NRA Club Recruiters have recruited over 20,300 members so far in 2018. Clubs have increased their commitment all summer by signing up a higher percentage of club members and seeking out events for NRA membership drives. Strategies that may work well for some clubs may not apply to others, so it is important to find the most effective method for your club to recruit consistently. To simplify the process, many clubs associate the annual renewal of their club’s memberships with NRA membership renewal.

Kodiak Island Sportsmen’s Association from Kodiak Island, Alaska mails in membership lists with payment two to three times a year. This is a great way to ensure 100% NRA membership at the club with minimal effort while also capitalizing on the program’s commission-per-member system.  If you’d like to learn how your club can start recruiting using a membership list, please reach out to me at D[email protected].

Hunting season is also great opportunity to reach non-club members. When guests show up to sight in their firearms and bows, find a way to tie in NRA membership to their visit. Your club could offer range discounts to NRA members or require NRA memberships from guests. In any case, be sure they understand your club offers membership at a discounted rate and highlight the benefits that will impact them the most.

Make an effort to shape your recruiting strategy to effectively reach all of your club’s members and members of your local community.
