Hunting season presents several recruiting prospects. Identifying opportunities and pursuing them is crucial to membership recruitment in the fall and winter seasons.
The National Rifle Association’s executive vice president and CEO, Wayne LaPierre, has named Jason Ouimet to serve as executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA). The NRA Board of Directors unanimously affirmed Ouimet's selection at its recent board meeting.
"Jason is a principled leader with tremendous field vision and political savvy. He has a strong campaign background and more than 15 years playing pivotal roles in all the NRA’s legislative accomplishments and victories. Our five million members and America’s gun owners have the strongest ally and the best advocate in Jason," said LaPierre.
Misleading reports exist about several legal matters involving the NRA. NRALegalFacts.org presents key documents and facts — to set the record straight and allow the public to judge for itself.
Signing up a new NRA member is similar to selling any other good or service. Much like a sales person, you must convince the "customer" that spending their hard earned money with you is of value to them. Following a basic sales process will result in increased membership signups and, ultimately, a stronger NRA!
NRA Club Recruiters have continued to demonstrate their dedication to supporting the NRA, bringing in over 17,000 members so far this year! With the numerous recent attacks on the NRA and Second Amendment amongst mainstream media outlets, gun clubs serve an important role in shaping how communities across America perceive the NRA and our mission. It’s not only important to find which recruiting strategy works best for you, but also to make sure the members of your club understand the importance of the NRA.
It’s hard to believe summer is already over and hunting season is around the corner. Historically, gun sales and NRA memberships increase during this time. Thank you to all new and veteran Recruiters bringing in members to the NRA! Your efforts will truly make a difference as we head into the busiest time of the year.
The Instructor Recruiter category has been making a major impact in the 3rd quarter of 2019, exemplified by a 42% increase on funds brought into the NRA compared to last year! Many instructors have been working hard to push NRA membership to students, especially important during these critical times when it always seems as if the NRA is under attack by the media. A number of different recruiting methods are proving to be successful, however, one of the most effective strategies resulting in more NRA members is incorporating NRA memberships into the cost of your classes.
As we get closer to the 2020 presidential election, the hysteria around gun control will only increase. This is a crucial time to bring in more members to the NRA.
Individuals and businesses alike in the XR category are a dedicated group who take advantage of every avenue to recruit. One common strategy is the use of web links. With the digital age, it is essential to have a strong internet presence. Luckily the NRA has several solid Recruiters and individuals who properly utilize their web links.
Please stay vigilant when signing up members! We have seen an increase in applications we are unable to process for a variety of reasons.
Issues include incorrect credit card numbers (#1 issue), incorrect credit card expiration dates, or incomplete addresses. These can easily be resolved by taking an extra minute and verifying the information with the member before giving them the customer copy of their receipt. Remember, if you can't read their handwriting, we can't either!
So far this year, the Northeast Region has recruited over 9,000 members! I’d like to commend the following Recruiters for persisting-- despite the challenges our organization has faced this year they have managed to beat their numbers from this time last year.
Greg Sullivan (IN) – up 11%
Nick Merlino (PA) – up 32%
David Simmons (NY) – up 77%
Chad Burkett (NY) – up 116%
Lori Card (MI) – up 218%
Jerry Eads (IN) – up 443%
Southeast Recruiters have recruited close to 12,000 members so far this year. Gun show attendance should be picking back up, but continue to look for events to attend outside of gun shows.
We need to be more proactive than ever. Make sure you are talking to everyone who walks past your table. Simply asking “Are you an NRA member?” can get the conversation started and potentially lead to a membership. The more people you talk to, the more memberships you will get. Once the conversation has started, you can reply to any objections they may have for not signing up/renewing. If you are coming across the same objection and are not sure how to respond, contact a marketing representative for guidance.
As we approach the 2020 elections, we all need to stand strong to keep our Second Amendment right safe. We never know what the future of our country holds, especially when our constitutional rights are threatened on a day-to-day basis. Many of you in the West are seeing radical changes in your states that if not stopped quickly, will create a chain reaction across the country. The NRA can only do so much without the support of the millions of American gun owners who are not members. Keep in mind that recruiting NRA members can go beyond gun shows and events. We all have a few friends or family members who support our cause but refuse to join for one reason or another – now is the best time to get them on board!
The NRA Recruiting program provides a great opportunity for NRA members to strengthen the NRA by increasing membership and earn extra money at the same time!
