Southern Region Report

Despite ongoing COVID-19 mandates, skyrocketing inflation, negative media bias and economic uncertainty, the recruiters in the southern region have continued to consistently bring in new members. They also have renewed existing members and an impressive rate, as well as bring the long lapsed members into the fold. Between NRA instructors, clubs, show recruiters, and retail/gun store recruiters, we have gained just under 3,000 memberships in this term alone!

Each and every type of recruiter plays a crucial role in strengthening the NRA’s ability to defend our beloved Second Amendment and that success can come in some, fairly unlikely places. Take instructor recruiter Richard Mitchell Jr of Maryland. If you are not aware, Maryland’s state legislature is far from firearms friendly, but as an instructor, he was able to generate almost $2000 in sales from his students alone this past month! His ability to teach an NRA firearms course in a professional manner is a great way for him to also teach the benefits of joining the world’s largest and oldest civil rights organization. After speaking with him, I asked, “How are you so prolific with enrolling people? “ He then replied, “Well, I explain to all of my students, that when I was younger, I thought that the Second Amendment would protect me. Now I know, that we are the ones that have to protect IT.” This is probably the best reason to join.

Speaking of which, don’t forget the fact that the Second Amendment is, in fact, a civil right. The work this organization does to protect your ability to teach classes, enjoy spending time at your gun club, hunt, shoot or whatever it is you enjoy doing with firearms is a tall order and reminding people of this may very well be a great selling point. No one person can do it alone, and there are strength in numbers.

The National Rifle Association would not be what we are without every last one of you, and the NRA would like to thank you for all the hard work you do and all the successes you’ve been able to accomplish, despite all the trials and tribulations of recent memory. Please keep me informed of any new or developing possible roadblocks you may encounter, so I can not only share it with everyone else, but also work to provide solutions to them. You can contact me by phone at (703) 267-3759, or email me at [email protected]. Folks, thanks again, and I look forward to ongoing success in the coming months! Keep your eyes sharp for opportunities, and as always keep your powder dry!
