Northern Regional Report: May - June 2021

As the year progresses, we’re finally seeing more and more states lift their COVID restrictions and open back up. It looks like we are on the right track to resume most events as normal before we know it! I’m sure you all are all eager to get back to your in-person classes, regular store operations, and full capacity ranges and events. Please continue to keep your health and safety in mind as we make our way back to a more normal way of life.

With in-person events coming back, I encourage you all to think outside the box when it comes to your event selections. While gun and sportsmen shows have always been our go-to options for recruiting events, that doesn’t mean those types of events should be your only options! Flea markets, agricultural events, or even car or plane shows are great additions to any list of recruiting opportunities. The possibilities really are endless. For example- Greg Sullivan from IN has embraced this idea over the years and has seen great results from recruiting at flea markets in his area.

April Evenson, one of our newest recruiters from WI, has already adopted this concept as well-- she is planning to recruit at a mudding event, a picnic, and a local 4^th of July celebration. Of course, gun and sportsmen shows are a great place to interact with our usual member base and get folks to renew. But expanding your horizons to these sort of atypical events presents some great opportunities to get new members that you may not have a chance to interact with otherwise.

Make sure you’re adequately prepared to answer member questions at your meetings, classes, stores, and events as well. It’s a great idea to familiarize yourself with our ILA website as it’s constantly updated with current issues on both federal and state levels. Our NRA Forward website is also a fantastic resource for answering questions about current happenings within the organization, including the dismissal of our bankruptcy filings.
