2020 NRA Dealer Recruiter of the Year - Target World of PA

We’re excited to congratulate Danny Carr and his team at Target World Inc of Pennsylvania for earning the title of 2020 Dealer Recruiter of the Year. In 2020, Danny and his team signed up 1,128 members and raised over $51,000 for our organization.

Since joining the NRA Recruiting Program in 1992, the team at Target World of Pennsylvania has signed up over 10,600 members. Their hard work has kept them among the Top 10 of all Dealer Recruiters for years, but in 2020 they launched themselves to the #1 spot among Dealer Recruiters nationwide by increasing their membership sales by nearly 250%.

2020 was a challenging year for a variety of reasons, but the folks at Target World made the best of their situation. Like many stores across the country, their store saw a huge increase in gun sales last year. Danny and his team seized this opportunity with an increase in foot traffic and sales at the store to also push NRA Memberships. They made it a point to ask everyone who visits their store to join the NRA. Target World realizes the importance of NRA Membership and tells their customers, “if you own a firearm, you better be an NRA Member”.

There are two major components to Target World’s success in Recruiting – member discounts and employee involvement. Target World offers NRA Members discounts on products. NRA members can save 5% on firearms, safes, and optics, as well as 10% off of accessories and most other products in the store. To put that into perspective, the ability to save 5% on a $1,000 safe, firearm, or scope can essentially cover the cost of someone’s membership.

Danny also puts an emphasis on how to sell NRA Memberships in his employee’s training. They are encouraged to participate in membership sales, and employees receive a portion of the earned commissions from memberships sold. The way Danny sees it, this set up is a “win, win, win”—the member gets a discount, the salespeople get commission, and the NRA gets another member.
