NRA Club Recruiters have continued to demonstrate their dedication to supporting the NRA, bringing in over 17,000 members so far this year! With the numerous recent attacks on the NRA and Second Amendment amongst mainstream media outlets, gun clubs serve an important role in shaping how communities across America perceive the NRA and our mission. It’s not only important to find which recruiting strategy works best for you, but also to make sure the members of your club understand the importance of the NRA.
One of the best ways to sign up members and spread knowledge throughout your community is to set up a recruiting booth at a local event or club event open to the public. Many Club Recruiters treat the program as a fundraising tool and set up volunteers from the club to man recruiting booths at certain events. This type of event recruiting works well for clubs that require a certain amount of volunteer hours from their members.
Laclede County Conservation Club from Lebanon, MO has experienced success setting up recruiting booths at events. The club’s NRA Recruiting contacts, Misty and Chris Wilson, explain “Local events open to the public present great opportunities to set up recruiting booths to help grow the NRA and secure our Second Amendment rights. One question we are asked at every recruitment event is ‘what has the NRA done for me?’This is an easy and multifaceted answer for us. Our reply is, ‘what haven’t they done to secure your Second Amendment rights?’ By doing this, we are able to open up a dialog about the NRA fighting for our Second Amendment rights not only for us, but for future generations to come.” With the Wilson’s words in mind, consider setting up a recruiting booth at your next local fair, at a supporting local business or at any club competitions or events open to the public.
With hunting season upon us, you many also see an influx of club guests showing up to sight in their rifles or bows. Even if you don’t require membership from club guests, remember it is still worth asking if they want to join the NRA and defend their Second Amendment rights. Many gun owners are ready to join and all it takes for them to put pen to paper is someone simply asking them.
