XI Category Report: September - October 2018

A common goal we stress to all Recruiters is ‘Strive for 25’ and sign up at least 25 members per year.  In 2018, 55 Instructor Recruiters have already hit the 25 member mark and 15 have surpassed 100.

The most recently enrolled Instructor Recruiter to reach this feat is Michael Kenny from Marion, MA.  Michael enrolled in the program on April 10, 2018 and has already signed up 30 members, all new to the NRA!  Michael explained, “I have found the most important factors in both teaching and recruiting for the NRA are accuracy, enthusiasm and honesty.” 

Michael shows several NRA slides during his class, including the ones titled “What the NRA does and is doing for gun owners like you me,” “The NRA is our best voice to protect our gun rights” and “The NRA serves as a honest information pipeline compared to biased media attacks on gun owners.”  He describes how proud he is to be a member of the NRA and explains the benefits and importance of membership.  The way Michael describes it, “Gun owners, while vocal, may at times be an unorganized group of individuals. While we take pride in being individuals, that individuality can also make us very vulnerable. The NRA is a united voice for us and we need to be a united voice with the NRA.”  During the break, Michael gives his students the opportunity to join without feeling pressured to do so.

I challenge every Instructor Recruiter to reach at least 25 members in 2018 – there is still plenty of time left!  Push your web links on social media, incorporate membership into your course fees, or take a page out of Michael Kenny’s book and add extra slides to your presentation.  If you would like to discuss strategies that might work well for you, please reach out to me at [email protected].
