Northeast Regional Report: March - April 2018

by Hannah Greene, March 19, 2018

Northern Region Recruiter Representative

The second quarter of the year is underway and 64 of you have already kick-started your recruiting efforts! Of those 64, 17 of you have already hit the program’s annual goal of signing up 25 members. 14 of you have already gone the extra mile and signed up over 100 members! This is the sort of drive we hope to see all year long, not just at the starting and finish lines. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Over the course of the past few weeks, NRA has received unwavering support from our members, both current and new. I’ve heard from many of you that your sign-up numbers have jumped dramatically, some more than double what you’ve done at the same shows in years past. We’ve seen similar results at our staff shows. Don’t forget to be incredibly thorough with your member applications.  With the influx of applications, I’m noticing an increase in errors. Don’t let the public’s heightened interest in joining overwhelm you at your shows! Do your best to ensure all of the information on those applications is correct. The sooner their applications are processed, the sooner they become active members and join the fight.

At this time, I strongly encourage you to incorporate two particular selling tactics into your repertoire: emphasize your online presence and up-sell longer term memberships. If you haven’t already, make sure your recruiting weblink is easily accessible on your website, e-mail signatures, and even in your club’s/community’s e-mail newsletters. Increasing your online recruiting presence increases your opportunities to sign members up online without the level of effort and attention that is required of you in person. While you’re at shows and events, start your pitch by letting members know that the best deal you have to offer is the 5 year option for $100. That cuts their annual rate down to $20 a year! Not only is it cheaper than the 1 year membership, but for $15 more than the 3 year membership, they’ll get 2 more years. The longer they have their membership, the less they have to worry about renewing. Not to mention, it’s more commission in your pocket!

Thank you all again for everything that you do for our association, and for standing by us during these challenging times. We wouldn’t be able to do the work that we do, and continue to build our member base, without all of your hard work and perseverance.
