Southeast Regional Report: July - August 2015

As we continue into the summer season, be proactive by finding new and creative methods of recruiting. When looking to improve your numbers over last year, explore opportunities that you haven’t tried before. Not every event has to be a gun show to recruit members; a county fair, a sporting event, retail stores or local trap shoots are great venues for recruiting new members. We have done an outstanding job of covering gun shows across the region but need to expand in order to keep membership totals moving in the right direction. Be sure to explore every local event and determine whether or not it is a good opportunity to sell NRA memberships. Mark Lee and Bill Gorman have done a great job of getting their foot in the door with Gander Mountain and have translated that into over 100 memberships. These are a great examples of thinking outside the box. Carol Shaffer was able to book an Outdoor Show that is sure to help her increase on her totals from last year.

As things heat up politically we will become increasingly busy. Making sure that your applications are submitted correctly will ensure the fastest possible processing. Applications need to be clearly divided into three sections; Cash, Check, and Credit Cards. Your check or money order needs to be stapled to the cash applications, same as a single check membership. The Gun Show Report is important to help organize the applications in the correct order and will help eliminate errors. By completing a Gun Show Report it also allows me to document when I received the applications if questions arise from you or members who may call in.

Finding new events, improving sales pitches and better organization will help your membership totals soar.
