The end of 2013 is near; soon we will be celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas! This does not leave much time to build on the historic numbers that we have achieved this year. Let’s make sure that we capitalize on every opportunity to recruit new members. Hunting season has kicked into full gear making outdoor retailers a prime opportunity to continue to sign up members. For example, Tom Knie has recruited over 2,300 members thus far in 2013, mostly from his regular efforts at Bass Pro Shop. There are many similar opportunities available throughout the region with smaller retailers. As recruiters, you need to be out there beating the bushes and making sure that we are reaching every gun owner.
I have started to build the gun show list for 2014. As always, please inform me of any gun shows that you plan to work for the first half of the year. This provides me with a complete list as I travel for much of the first quarter of next year. If you are unable to provide a complete list for the first half of 2014, please provide your shows three months in advance so we can insure that they make our publication list.
I begin my heavy travel season in January. If you have problems or questions that need to be addressed, please contact me as soon as possible. While traveling, I can be reached via email for urgent issues. 2013 has been an amazing, record breaking year and we were able to slow the assault on our rights. Take a moment and reflect on all of our successes but remain mindful that the fight will rage on into 2014!
